  • MOST THOUGHT-PROVOKING QUESTION ABOUT GAYS

I wonder: do gays really cause earthquakes, hurricanes, and other dangerous weather conditions? If they do, then I would definitely become gay to have those superpowers. I mean, imagine how sexy I would look in Storm's outfit.

  • "Somewhere Like This"

I remember someone asked me what was my fondest memory last week. I said that the one that sticks out in my mind was driving with my left hand and holding her hand with my right. Because in that one moment, everything felt right. Perfect.

So, after seeing this video, it reminded me of past loves. Those small instances where it seems insignificant to most looking in, but meant the world to me at the time and thinking about it now.
  • Ben Bits 9

    1. I went to the archery range with a friend and her cousin yesterday. The last time I shot with a bow and arrow was 13 years ago when I visited my cousins in Singapore (that was also my first time). I enjoyed it a lot, but it was difficult finding a place. Luckily, my friend found one in her borough. I want to make it a consistent thing (even if it's like evert two months or something). Since NYC is a gun-free zone, they don't have shooting ranges here. So, I figured the next best thing is an archery range? Plus, it's a need survival and coordination skill to learn.

    2. For the past week (ever since I started cutting a certain amount of meat out of my diet), I've been exhausted each night. I usually figured that it's a good thing, but the problem is that I have a difficult time falling asleep each night. I usually get 5 hours of sleep (6 if I'm lucky) and then I try to catch up on the weekend. However, I think sleeping in on the weekends is a bad idea because all the times that I have before, I've went through Saturdays and Sundays with a headache or migrane. So, I feel like I have to keep a consistent sleep schedule of 5-6 hours to make sure that doesn't happen.
    3. Still no luck with the ladies. Since when I created my POF profile, only two girls have messaged me. After looking through their profile, I didn't feel any initial attraction. As for my OKC profile, still no responses to my messages. Oh well.
    4. How was your day/weekend/since we last crossed paths?
  • Crisis

I had a friend contact me today because they almost offed themselves the other night by overdose. You could imagine how upset I was about it, and so I had to talk to them and make sure that if they were ever in a situation where they need someone to talk to, that they can always message and call me.

I extend that out to the rest of you too. I've already lost more than a handful of friends to suicides and premature deaths. If you are having stressful days, a lot of pressure on your shoulders, need someone to listen, do not hesitate to message me. I will always do my best to respond to my messages as soon as I can. I will always offer an ear to listen.
  • Transparency (Answers!)

As promised (well, I didn't really promise), here are the questions you guys asked and here are my answers.

What Xangan do you crush on the most?
Just one? Hah. There are a lot of lovely and awesome ladies on here (sorry, men). But, if I had to pick one, it would have to be... @sugar_mama. I bet you're surprised? :P I had the pleasure of actually meeting her in person and she's very sweet, very down to earth, goal-oriented, and beautyyyful.
What traits do you want most people to admire in you?
I think we all wanted to be fully admired, but as with everything, we really can't impress everyone. But, if there is one or a few things that I wish people could take away from an interaction, I would hope that they can see my loyalty as well as my compassion. It's a little tough when some people read my certain rants or comments or musings when I complain about people, but at the end of the day, I really do wish people the best and I'm always willing to listen and talk to anyone who needs to.

    1) If you had to describe yourself in only three words, what would they be?

In three words, hmm? Foodie, Loving, Silly
    2) In a Real World: Xanga-edition, who would the six other Xangans that you want to live with?
    Man, this one is tricky. Let's see: @roadlesstaken, @shimmerbodycream, @quantumstorm, @cakalusa, @foodhog, and of course @annieothergirl
    3) What is your biggest turn on/off in the opposite sex?
My biggest turn on would be having endless conversations about anything. That's actually what held true these past few months when I went on a couple dates.
What turns me off is a control freak. Someone who demands how I should act, dress, who I can see, etc.
Where are you from and if you still live there, where is another place that you would want to live?
Well, I am originally from Delaware. Right now, I live in New York City. If I wanted to live anywhere else? That would be a tough one. I really don't think it's the appeal of the place itself that makes it worth living in, but rather the people who populate the area. It can be an awesome place to be at, but if the people are rude and couldn't give two rats' asses about anyone or anything, that wouldn't be a place I want to be in. Sure, Delaware is often a quiet place and do not really have much to do, but with the time I spent there and all the people I have befriended over those years, I always want to go back and visit.
    Why do you enjoy Xanga?
I've been on Xanga for almost 9 years now. I've been here before all the Ish sites were created, before the Reply and Recommend button was added. I created a Xanga to see what the fuss was all about and mostly to keep up with friends I already knew in real life. But now, Xanga has evolved into much more. The reason why I enjoyed Xanga is because it's a great community with people who want to share their life stories with anyone who is willing to listen/read. I've befriended a whole bunch of Xangans here (online and in real life). I'm always excited to see who else I can meet from different places around the world, what they are up to, and what they think about anything in general. I love learning about people and their perspectives. Sure, there may be a few trolls here and there, but what places wouldn't? It's much easier to make friends on here because unlike Facebook where it's mostly people you already know in person or Myspace where people only cared about friend counts, Xanga offers a rich interaction between anonymous beings. You learn about the person behind that picture, their triumphs, their struggles. Xanga is really a place where people can be as honest as they want while still finding people to talk to and befriend.

    1) What's your biggest pet peeve?

Well, it depends on where and what situation I'm in. Hahah. When I'm driving, my biggest one is when people do not use their turn signals. When I'm online, I get annoyed when someone used the wrong forms of "your and you're," "their, there, and they're," "to, two, too,", etc. When I lion dance, I hate when people call it a dragon. Hahah. And also, as of recently, I hate when I message or call someone and I don't hear back from them within a day or two.
    2) Which Xangan would you most like to meet?
Just one? This one is tough because, really, I would like to meet everyone that I've befriended on here. I guess it's a matter of who can get to me first? Hahah.
    3) What's your favorite place to eat at in NYC?
My favorite place.... again, like the question above this, it's hard to choose just one. But, I guess at the moment, I would love to go back to IchiUmi in Midtown. All you can sushi for $35? HELLS YEAH.

    1) What's the craziest thing you ever done?

Hmm.... there's plenty of crazy that I've done. Streaked and did a cart wheel at the same time? Hahah.
    2) Fondest memory?
Hmm... I've had a lot of fond and great memories. It's really hard to pick just one... but usually, the one that stuck out recently was just holding a girlfriend's hand while driving. Even with the radio playing, it was peaceful. Serene. And everything felt fine.
    3) Biggest regret?
Not visiting my grandma one last time before she passed away. She died over 3 years ago. I still remember that day. I was supposed to go to Philadelphia for a work meeting. A storm was passing over the area and rain just kept pouring and areas around my town were flooding. The boss called and told me to stay home. The road to the hospice where my grandma was at were still clear. However, I took that opportunity or granted and stayed home. The time was 2 AM, and my mom came into my room and turned on the light. She told me to get dressed. She said we're heading to the hospice because grandma passed away. When we got there, I saw her. Laying motionless as the family wept around her. I kept thinking to myself how stupid I was to not take the storm as a sign to see her and talk to her one last time before she left. Even to this day, I still kick myself sometimes over that thought. I still find it hard to forgive myself.

    1) What's the one thing you want most in life right now?

Well, judging from my past posts, I think people know what that is. Hahah. With me graduated from college and now working a full-time job, I often look for the next best thing to add on to my life. I'm still saving up to buy my own place, so that's out of the question. I've been searching for someone who I can develop a deep, emotional, romantic relationship with. Life partner? Maybe. I'm not jumping too far ahead yet. But, someone who I can enjoy the company of as well as they enjoy mine. Someone to explore the city and other places with.
Or a corgi. Because corgi are frickin' adorable balls of cuddly fluff.
    2) If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
    Vagina.
Hah! Just kidding. The answer is definitely sushi and sashimi. So many choices, chances are I'll never get tired of it.
(I also know the strange resemblance between the fake and real answer, so shhhhhhhh.)

    1) What is your name?

I'm Ben. Benjamin if you're formal. Mr. T if you're nasty.
    2) What is your favorite color?
I went through phases of switching out favorite colors. It ranged from blue to orange to yellow and now back to orange.
    3) What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?
It depends on a series of factors. First, was it carrying a coconut? If so, it might have to flap its wings 43 times a second in order to stay off the ground while carrying the coconut. Or maybe it could be an African swallow?
Well, that was fun. I might do this again some time soon. I bet you guys would have more question for me. :P (That took a little longer than expected, but it's done!)
  • Transparency (Experiment?)

I like to think of myself as an honest, open person. I believe in transparency, being front of your intentions, and cutting to chase when a situation warrants it. I've also met a bunch of new people (and also will continue to meet new people). So, I want to open up with an opportunity for you to know some things about me.

I'll let you ask up to three questions about things that would like to know about me, and I'll answer to the best of my ability. (Please note: if you ask something like for my SSN, don't be surprised if I give you a dick answer. Just putting that out there. My warning, not my dick. Also, if the question is too personal or deals with a very sensitive topic, I'll let you know if I'm uncomfortable answering it.)
I'll make a post tomorrow night with my answers and tag those who have asked them. And, if you like, you can include one fact about yourself that you think I might find interesting.
(Mostly, I'm just bored and too tired to think of something insightful to write). :P Rec if you please so others can join in.
  • Lunch (Diet) Change

As much as I love eating meat (beef, chicken, pork, anything), I'm starting to change my diet during lunch. With how my family is feeding me at dinner, it's not feasible. So the change I can make is at lunch.

I'm going to cut down my meat consumption at lunch time and only eat veggie based lunches. Today, I'm having mixed greens, avocado salad with beans, beets, and New England Clam Chowder (hey, I said I'm only cutting down. :P ) Also, I'm only drinking water or unsweetened tea. And for my coffee in the morning, only milk added and no sugar.

The reason I'm doing this is because chances are, my blood pressure and cholesterol is most likely sky high. I want to improve my health and also shrink my waist line slightly so my pants aren't tight. Plus, fiber so I don't constipate myself. Poop joke: check.

  • Table Manners (Joke)

Two flies are on a piece of poop. One fly cuts a fart. The other fly says, "Hey! Do you mind?! I'm eating here!"

Also just to remind you where flies were prior to landing on your food...

  • If I Were a Song...

I got this post inspiration from @quantumstorm, who did a post that you can find here.

Like him, I grew up playing a wide variety of instruments, though I was only decent at two of them. The ones I am decent at are piano and percussion. I also noticed how my music tastes changed throughout my life. Below are just a sample of my tastes throughout the years:
    Childhood:

Yes, everyone should love this song. DO IT.

    Middle School (my rap phase):

High School (my emo and pop punk phase):

    College (my hardcore/metal phase):

    And now:

But, I'm not all heavy metal....

Music heals the soul.... and makes you dance funny.

    1. I wonder what it is about the shower that makes you think so deeply, tapping into your inner thoughts, and then sometimes makes you stand there as the water is running down on you. I think I stood there doing nothing for about 30 seconds before I realized that I was just standing there.

    2. How do you differentiate between close and best friends? Is there a certain threshold of something that they need to meet in order to qualify them as a best friend? I have two friends who I probably message almost everyday: one is a guy and one is a girl. The girl, I consider a best friend, whereas the guy is consider a close friend. I think the reason being is because with the girl, even though I've known her for less amount of time than I did the guy friend, there's that sense of confiding in her when I'm at my worst; my emotions run rampant, I'm pouring my heart out, I spew all my thoughts. With the guy, we text each other random crap like dark and edgy jokes, news about video games and movies and sports, and also projects that we're working on. The weird thing is, I do have another male friend that I don't talk to as often, but I would consider him a best friend. Yet, our communication is just about the same as with the other guy friend.
I began to think about abandoning the whole idea of labeling who's best and close friends. Each level of friendship is unique with each person and it can only be understood between the two parties. Trying to place a label would only constrain what greatness that friendship can achieve.
    3. I really need to get a TV for my PS3. Just sitting here for the past few hours.... I started to drive myself insane with what could be happening inside my thoughts.
    4. Did I mention that I love you guys? Thank you for being a part of my life, even if we ever spoken through comments, posts, and messages.
