  • On The Way Home

Because of tropical storm Andrea slowly making its way up the east coast, as I was walking home from work, it started to downpour. My work shoes are pretty old and slightly beat up, so they began to absorb water and thus, my socks got soaked. I finally got home and began undressing. My home is mostly hardwood and tile. I slipped off the socks and because they were wet, they were a little difficult to take off. So, I yanked and got the sock off, but I also recreated this (at 11 seconds):

Thus, my humiliation is complete for today. Hope you guys were quick on your toes and not on your face today.

  • A little annoyed with someone. I asked if she is free Friday night at the beginning of the week, and she mentioned that she might be free. I enthused that we should meet up Friday night. I inquired on Wednesday if she was still up to maybe meet Friday night, and no answer… even though she has logged onto her account a few times between that message and now. What is so hard about saying, “Yes, let’s hang out.”, “Sorry, can’t. Busy with work/etc.”, or “Sorry. No longer interested.”?

  • In to Ex

Back a good while ago, I wrote about how I use my humor as a self-deprecating weapon. Basic breakdown was that while dealing with bullying, I learned instead to embrace those jabs and instead turn them into the worst attacks at myself to the point where the bully would be so disgusted with me. People who make verbal jabs often do it to gain control over your emotions. But, I learned that by flipping it around and possessing their laughs or disgust, I can become the victor.

But now I’ve noticed something else with my sense of humor. When I was younger, I was one of the more shy people. I’ve never really engaged anyone in conversation unless they did first. I never actively went up to some stranger, say hi, and make some small talk. It was until I would say freshman of high school when this really all changed. As a joke at homecoming, I was invited to join in my brother’s group of friends (mainly juniors and seniors). A senior girl I met just that night was in the group. So, I start just bustin’ some moves, and I proceeded to unbutton my dress shirt, took it off, twirled it in the air, and threw at that girl. Everyone in the group laughed pretty hard (whilst my brother just had his face in his hand, shaking his head). And with that, it got me noticed enough that a random black girl came over, pulled me by the arm, brought me over to her group of friends, and started dancing with me.
Throughout the years, I started to develop my sense of humor. I loved making fun of my friends, making them and others laugh, to the point where it started to make me approach more people. I always classified myself as an introvert. It wasn’t some crippling internal fear of human contact, but just more that I never really approached anyone new unless there was a necessary reason to; i.e. if they dropped something, if I needed directions, etc. But, I think that one of the things that really helped me come out of that introversion was my sense of humor. I do also say that working in retail kinda helped too.
But mostly, I know that everyone loves to laugh. I started expanding my vocabulary of humor and are always willing to give things a try. It started from just making jokes to completely making a food out of myself at parties and events. I even branched out to try my wittiness on my Facebook with Channel Ben News, where I relay a news story and then make fun of it. I developed a love for puns. I make fun of my ethnicity.
I think it’s because laughter is one of the rare things that can really bring people together. And what’s a better way to introduce yourself than making people laugh? I’m still not fully extroverted, but I think it’s to the point where I’m starting to learn not to be so hard on myself. I’m teaching myself to say hello when I make eye contact with a random stranger on the street, in an elevator, etc. If I can’t at least say something, I always smile back at them. At parties now, I can approach someone and introduce myself, tell a few jokes, and learn more about that person.
I think that I often switch back and forth between introversion and extroversion. It really depends on my mood and the surrounding people. If everyone is having a great time, I’m more likely to be extrovert. If it’s a heavy situation, I tend to be reserved and quiet.
But if we had a giant Xanga party, you bet my bony Asian ass that I’ll be talking to everybody, running around screaming, or perhaps even dancing with the power of my irresistible pelvic thrusts.
@TheBeastWithThe4DirtyPaws inspired me to write this with her In To Ex post (well, more like reminded :P ).
  • What a Fun Night

Tonight, my CEO wanted to thank my department for doing a great job with our annual event. So, she treated us to a dinner and a show. For dinner, we went to a small French restaurant just outside of Times Square called Chez Josephine. Had some nice white wine, Maine Lobster Bisque soup, and a rare filet mignon with pomme frites. So delicious. And it better be if she was paying $12 for just the soup.

Afterwards, we went to a theater about a block away. Normally, I’m not a show type person. Tonight actually changed my mind about going to shows in the city now. The performance was called Old Hats. It’s a Vaudeville style mime improv comedy kind of show. Most of the dialogue mostly came from the band, who was amazing. I think what really caught my attention was the fact that it was a theater type show for people who do not like theater. It played somewhat heavily on improv, which was probably the biggest draw-in for me (since I love improv). One of my bosses was dying laughing next to me. And random but BLEW MY MIND fact: If you watched the series finale of The Office and/or Better Off Ted, you would know the actor Malcolm Barrett. One of my bosses was actually childhood friends with him! It literally just blew my mind when she told me that.
Also, on the way home on the subway, I saw this big muscly guy with a fitted cap, tattoos, chains… I didn’t pay much attention to him because I was listening to my music. But then, I looked at him for a little bit… and he had a kitten in his hands. The kitten was playing with his fingers, and the guys proceed to pet it, play with it, give it kisses, snuggle it against his face; it also fell asleep in his hands and he placed its body against his ear to listen to its heartbeat. It was one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen in my life.
I hope everyone had a great night. And remember, Ben loves you. *INTERNET HUGS*
  • Slurpies (NSFW?)

Fructose sugar, water, ascorbic acid, citric acid, enzymes, protein, zinc, and much more. These are the ingredients that you would usually find in protein shakes. These are also the ingredients you find in semen.

New research have some that numerous species, such as female squid, consume semen for its health benefits. Some scientists even consider it as a viable superfood.

    SCIENCE.

    Bahahahahahahahahahahaha.

  • Quack (Updated)

I have something to show you guys…..

I made a character and new banner for my WordPress!

What? Were you expecting something else?

Okay, fine. Here’s my belly button.

Also, please go here to Reddit to help upvote the fundraiser site to get outside help!

  • Are You The Droid I’m Looking For?

The end of my phone contract is approaching in mid July (GAH, too many references to end of Xanga), and I would like to be in the search of a new phone. My current phone, the Droid 2 Global, served me okay. It had its hiccups: randomly disengaging the SD card, random dropped reception, lag, keyboard randomly typing its own letters, and randomly restarting on its own.

I want to stay on my current plan mainly because I wish to keep my unlimited data (which is no longer offered). Because of that, it would mean that I cannot buy a new phone at a subsidized reduced price and therefore have to buy the phone outright at full price; that would range from $500 to $700.
I’ve ruled out getting a Windows phone since they are currently running behind in app development and maintaining software updates, as well as an iPhone because, well, everyone has an iPhone (plus, I feel that it’s too restricting). Originally, I wanted to get a phone with a slide-out keyboard. I hate typing on touch screens because I have clumsy fat fingers; I also type way too quickly and therefore, often misspell words on touch screen phones. Since my carrier offers only 3 phones of that feature, yet all are either have 4″ or smaller screens, horrible battery life, and aren’t up to date on software, I decided to just sacrifice the keyboard and move to an all-touch phone. So, I’ve narrowed down to three choices:
    ———————–
    1. Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD

    Why This Phone:

    • 4G LTE capability
    • 3300 mAh battery (big-ass battery mean long-ass battery life. They say even after heavy use of apps, streaming music and video, can still last up to 13 hours on a single charge)
    • 4.7 inch multi-touch screen
    • 16 GB internal memory with expandable MicroSD
    • 8 MP camera and 1080p video recording
    • Android Jellybean OS 4.1
    —————————–
    2. HTC Droid DNA

    Why This Phone:

    • 4G LTE capability
    • 5 inch multi-touch screen
    • 16 GB internal memory (but no expandable MicroSD) *sad face*
    • 8 MP camera and 1080p video recording (both cameras)
    • Android Jellybean OS 4.1 (upgradable to 4.2)
    ——————————–
    3. HTC One

    Why This Phone:
    • 4G LTE capability
    • 4.7 inch multi-touch screen
    • Booming dual front speakers
    • 32/64 GB internal memory (but no expandable MicroSD) *sad face*
    • 4 MP camera (meh) and 1080p video recording (both cameras)
    • Android Jellybean OS 4.1 (upgradable to 4.2)
I found out that this phone will now be carried on my carrier, but not until later this summer (hopefully before my contract is up).
    ————————————-
So, what I ask of you, my Xanga family, do any of you own these phones? What is your experience with them? Do you recommend any of these phones? I only ever got to play with the Droid DNA and it felt comfortable and suitable for my kind of usage (although it is pretty massive at more than 5 inches). Help me out!

  • MAH FEET!

Today, a friend came to visit me here in NYC. She wanted to do something free-ish, so I had figured out some places where it didn’t cost money to go to. Also, by the way, I know some of you are thinking this, and no, there’s no opportunity for a spark here; she’s my lesbro (a lesbian that’s a bro).  Anyways, we walked all of the Highline (which is about 1.45 miles long), walked up about 38 blocks to Rockefeller Plaza to check out the Lego and Nintendo Store, then headed to Queens for some White Castle. Sweet sweet White Castle. Afterwards, we went to Central Park and walked about a good 1.5 miles in it before trekking to the Met to check out all the awesome ancient armory and weapons. We then walked back to the bus stop for her to take the bus home. And MAH FEEEEEEEETTTT. THEY’RE ON FIRE. THEY FEEL LIKE BURNING.

I thought a little more about Xanga today and its impending end. I know that a good amount of people are jumping off the ship as well as demanding answers from the Xanga Team about this sudden rush of news and negligence to the site. I do believe that people have the right to be angry; upset that they are asking for so much money in so little time, frustrated about the lack of leadership and updates with the site and app.
However, I feel like no matter where we get the answers, I do want Xanga to be saved. @cakalusa and @shimmerbodycream have set forth another plan to help save Xanga (even for free), which you can read about here. The reason why I want Xanga to be saved is because I would miss the community here. You guys are the reason that I always visit Xanga every day and night. I get to meet awesome people, read about their lives, share mine with you guys, and most of all, create these great relationships that often branch out outside of Xanga. I often wonder where else I would go if Xanga were to shut down. And the answer would be nowhere. The reason Xanga wants to move to WordPress is because since it’s open source coding, all the code updates and bug fixes and new future features can be easier to implement than what they have now. The reason they want to raise the money is so they can pay the programmers and people who will (hopefully) be moving all of the accounts, all the coding, everything over to WordPress. They may be asking for a yearly subscription fee for now, but it doesn’t mean they will continue to do so. I understand that some people simply can’t afford to, and that’s fine. I’m willing to pledge my money to help save Xanga, because the void of everyone no longer here where I can catch up on their lives, read about mine, and offer an ear to listen… I feel like that is what’s worth it. Money wouldn’t be a factor for me; keeping in touch with my Xanga family is.
I hope you guys had a good weekend. Time to massage MAH FEET.

  • Xanga: The End – Let’s Still Be Friends (Updated #2)

    ::UPDATE::
I’m moving my contact info up here so you guys can see and access it better:
My Facebook - (If you can’t find me through this link, you can find me through Alex’s (@roadlesstaken) Facebook. Just look for Ben Tsang living in New York, New York. My profile picture should be the same as my Xanga’s.) If you still can’t find me through this link, find me through my Art page here and find me that way. I am also in the Xangaville Facebook group that @MyxlDove have set up; you can find me there as well.>>If you wish to send me a friend request, tell me your Xanga username in a message so I can identify you.<<
Skype: itssaibon    <<I’m usually not on as much, but you can still find me. I’ll make more of an effort to get online and chat with you guys.
Email and GChat: ben.s.tsang@gmail.com – For those who do not have Facebook.
Twitter: I mostly do a lot of retweeting and favoriting… but occasionally tweet my own nonsense.
My WordPress - Again, I’ll try to update on there, but chances are I might grow sad that it’s not the same as Xanga. I found out that you are somehow able to see people’s IP and email when you comment. So, I might not update as much on there. So go to the next one, which is:
Google+ - People still use this?
And any of those in the US, if you wish to text me, just send me a private message and, if I trust you enough that you won’t stalk this sexy Asianness, I’ll give you my number.
    —————————————————————————————-

I guess it’s really coming to that time, huh? I’ve heard rumors here and there about the possible end of Xanga, but never really thought that the day would come. And yet, here we are. Staring in disbelief at my screen this morning reading from someone else’s post and then eventually heading over to the Xanga Team’s post. If you are unaware of the situation, you can read the post here and cry along with me.

I know that there are other blogging sites out there that many people use: Tumblr, WordPress, Blogger, Blogspot, etc. But, really, the reason I’ve stuck with Xanga is because beside having a history here (I wished I could have made it to at least 9 years here on Xanga), I’ve also met a bunch of wonderful people on here. Some that I’ve been friends with for a long time; others only recently that made a great impact on my life. I’ve met some in person and they are all awesome people. I was wishing to meet more. And, well, that fate has yet to be decide by the Xanga Overlords. I stayed for the community because that was what really made Xanga what it was. I kind of just don’t really want to make a Tumblr because, when looking at some, it just feels a little too…. impersonal. It’s not intimate where people really do know each other or have the initiation to meet each other. I have a WordPress, but I haven’t used it since college (which is a good 4-5 years). It might be time to scrounge it back up and start using it. You can find me at WordPress. It used to be my old design blog, but you saw how that turned out. :P I’m not sure how the subscriptions work, so give me some time to figure everything out. It turns out that you can see people’s emails and IP address on WordPress. So, I’ve disabled that link and instead will be post my Writerscafe one here.

Xanga is also holding a crowdsourcing fundraiser as an attempt to help save Xanga. It would require that members go on a yearly membership fee, and with the money, will be moved onto a WordPress server, but built to be reminiscent of Xanga. I’m actually thinking about contributing to the Save Xanga! Fundraiser with a one-year membership ($48). I hope that you guys would consider too. The deadline for the fundraiser is July 15th, and their goal is $60,000. I know it sounds like a lot, but you have to remember that they have to pay the programmers to move, reset, and maintain the site. I wish it can be done for free too, but people need to eat and support themselves. You can donate to the fundraiser here.

Just in case, however, that they do not reach the goal of $60,000 and will have to shut down, I’m opening my other forms of connection here for you guys:

My Facebook – (If you can’t find me through this link, you can find me through Alex’s (@roadlesstaken) Facebook. Just look for Ben Tsang living in New York, New York. My profile picture should be the same as my Xanga’s.) If you still can’t find me through this link, find me through my Art page here and find me that way. I am also in the Xangaville Facebook group that @MyxlDove have set up; you can find me there as well.

    >>If you wish to send me a friend request, tell me your Xanga username in a message so I can identify you.<< Also be warned, my sense of humor on there far surpasses what I post here on Xanga; some edgy, some controversial, but also lots and lots of fluffy animal pictures. And Channel Ben News.
Email and GChat: ben.s.tsang@gmail.com – For those who do not have Facebook.
Twitter: I mostly do a lot of retweeting and favoriting… but occasionally tweet my own nonsense.
My WordPress – Again, I’ll try to update on there, but chances are I might grow sad that it’s not the same as Xanga.

And any of those in the US, if you wish to text me, just send me a private message and, if I trust you enough that you won’t stalk this sexy Asianness, I’ll give you my number.

I certainly hope that Xanga will find a way to get the $60k and stay afloat. Xanga is usually the place I turn to in troubling times, and also to meet new people.

I know that a lot of people are abandoning ship at this moment, but I’m still going to be here until there is no longer a Weblog box to write in. After all, we still have until July 15th. So, I’ll still be here.
