Neck Pain (Updated)
I don’t know if it’s the way I’ve been sleeping or my lack of sleep, but I’m been experiencing pretty bad pain on the back of my neck and head. Can anyone recommend how to avoid getting it next time? I try to sleep on one pillow on my back, but I often toss and turn and end up sleeping on my side.
*Update*So… I had to leave work early today because that neck pain was causing me to get a migraine. I came home, took some ibuprofen, and slept for 4 hours. Good thing is, I feel better now. I might just have to sleep on 2 pillows now to support my neck and head.

I have the same problem; My neck hurts so badly, I try to situate myself in different positions to find where it’s most comfortable. Doesn’t sound like it… Laying completely flat on the mattress (no pillow) kind of helps. I eventually end up on my side though, but when my head isn’t on the pillow, it’s not as painful.
@jennylovve - I feel a little better now after leaving work early and sleeping it off. Will probably just have to sleep on two pillows now instead of one.
Try different pillows (firmness and shape). When you sleep on your side, check to see if your neck is properly supported. I’m glad you feel better now.
Check your posture at work, it may not be how you are sleeping. Side sleepers need firmer pillows.
@laytexduckie - Well good for you. Naps can fix anything lol
I had an issue with this. I actually went to physical therapy and they showed me some good exercises to strengthen my neck. I’ll look some up and show you what helped me.
Two pillows? That would be too high for me. I hate hate hate flat pillows I have like the perfect size for me, I need a firm medium pillow. Hope you’re feeling better and sleep well tonight _
Get a new comfy pillow with a nice squashy bolster and lots of cuddle things all around you or make an appointment with a chiropractor if the pain still persists. I find that a new change of colors with the pillows as well as a good book does the trick, but that’s just me. I also think you will need some good neck/ head message too benl Huggggggggggsss
@isitreal_no - I have one poofy and one flat pillow. Hahah. Hopefully, I’ll sleep in a good position tonight. Hahah. Thanks, Holly dear!
@mellywelly15 - Hahah. Squishy pillows and cuddles and hugs and things! Hahaha. *snuggles and huggggggggggggggs*
@laytexduckie - This could work. clearly I can”t judge if you got this B! http://www.ideann.com/images/Giant_U_Shaped_Body_Pillow.jpg
@mellywelly15 - Nah, rather snuggle with an actual person.
get an acupressure mat!
I sleep with two pillows at night. I know there’s some special type of pillows that will help with neck pain. Try sleeping on your back as well.
@msfatale – O.o It looks… dangerous. Hahaha.
@Got_Takoyaki – I’m a toss-and-turner. I might just need to wear myself out and pass out to probably get a good night’s sleep. O.O
Awwww, well glad to hear you are feeling better Ben. I usually sleep on my side with one pillow to support my head. A body pillow works as well. What can I say, I like to wrap myself around something when I sleep. LOL
@olwd – Thanks, Amy dear! And that’s also why we like being the big spoons! Hahaha.
Yea, the big HOT spoons. LOL
